UN investigation: Destruction of Gaza health system amounts to genocide

An investigation by a UN commission concluded that Israel was pursuing a coordinated policy of destroying the health system in the Gaza Strip.

A UN statement said Thursday that the investigation found the actions constituted war crimes and a crime of genocide against humanity.

Before the release of the full report, former High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay accused Israel of launching “continuous and deliberate attacks on medical personnel and medical facilities” during the war.

The United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry on the Palestinian Territories said: “Israel destroyed the health system as part of a wider attack in Gaza.”

With American support, Israel continues to wage a genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of more than 139,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, mostly children and women, and more than 10,000 people missing, amid of massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and elderly people, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.

In defiance of the international community, Israel continues its massacres in Gaza, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to immediately end them, as well as orders from the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent the acts of genocide.
