US President Donald Trump said talks to end the war in Ukraine could do well, but “there is a point where you have to move or silence”.
“I think the talks between Russia and Ukraine may well happen, and you will discover it very soon,” Trump told journalists on the presidential plane on Saturday.
“There is a point where you have to move or silence and we will see what will happen, but I think everything is going well,” he added.
Trump’s private envoy, Stephen Whitkov, had talks last Friday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to find a way to reach a peace agreement.
The talks occurred at a time when it seemed that dialogue between the United States and Russia stopped due to the differences in the conditions of the complete endowment to fight, and the agreement aims at a cease-fire before reaching a possible peace agreement to end the war.
Although Trump has shown signs of impatience and spoke of imposing secondary sanctions on countries that buy Russian oil if he thought Moscow failed to conclude an agreement, the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, congratulated yesterday, on Saturday, with the understanding of the American president for what is happening in Ukraine.
“The suppression of the deep causes of any conflict, including the Ukrainian conflict, is the only way to solve the problem and establish permanent peace,” said Lavrov – in a speech at the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, in southern Turkey.
He added that “President Trump is the first president, and almost the only one, I think, between the leaders of the West, who declared several times and convinced that Ukraine’s membership of NATO (NATO) will be a fatal error. This is one of the radical reasons that we have mentioned a lot.”
“I presented to our colleagues in Turkey, the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Hakan), Fidan, which we presented to the Americans, the United Nations and the organization of security and cooperation in Europe, a list of the facts which list the attacks launched by Ukraine in the last three weeks on the energy infrastructure in Russia,” he said.
Ukraine has been accused of accusations similar to Russia since the approval of attacks supported by the United States.
