The Supreme Council of Muslims of Congo Democrat has decided to suspend the prayers of Tarawih in eastern cities, which was occupied by the rebel movement of the M23, supported by Rwanda.

The head of the Islamic Council branch in Bukavo, Sheikh Yassin Kabongo, said that the ancients had not been established by the non-establishment of Tarawih prayer in mosques, because the security conditions in the country do not allow the exit of citizens at night.

The council called the Muslims who live near the mosques to combine Morocco and dinner and return home before the darkness of the darkness.

He also asked Muslims whose houses are located far from mosques to stay in their place and pray in which to protect souls from destruction.

The current Ramadan coincides with the local war which has been taking place for weeks in the Eastern Democratic Congo between the rebel fighters of the M23, and the regular army forces, which are still unable to end the progress of the rebel fighters.

The number of Muslims and their regions

Muslims of the Democratic Republic of Congo are considered to be minorities of the population, because they have 10 million, which represents 15% of the total population of around 77 million.

The statistics published by the World Federation of Muslim researchers say that the number of Muslims has decreased in Congo from 17 million to 10 million in recent decades due to persecution, poverty, ignorance, systematic exclusion, missionary campaigns and the absence of the media.

Most Democratic Muslims in Congo are in the capital, Kinshasa, and certain Eastern cities like Goma, Bocavo, Massis and Makto Casai.

In the eastern regions, Muslims, like the other Congolese, suffer from rebel attacks that have seized the cities of Gouma and Bocavo in recent weeks.

Closed markets and serious situations

With the advent of Saint-Ramadan, the suffering of Muslims increased, and they could no longer establish religious rituals, because the month of fasting for them was an appointment with the call, the spread of peace, love and virtuous values ​​between people, an opportunity for cooperation, solidarity and meeting on worship and learning.

The International Radio of France has cited local sources in the city of Boukavo saying that Muslims are looking for their needs in the sacred month. But the deterioration of the security situation prevents them from getting out in the markets which attend the aspects of looting, theft and murder.

In addition to the security situation, most banks and markets are still closed, which increases the complexity of life to live there.

Since last January, the eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo have experienced violent mutual attacks between the rebels and the regime forces, which has killed more than 7,000 civilians and tens of thousands of people displaced from their homes.

Despite calls from the international community to stop fighting, war has not put its weight. The United Nations claim that humanitarian conditions have become worrying and that international rescue organizations can reach places due to fighting.
