The American actor David Shimer, known for his performance, called Ross Ghiller in the series “Friends”, from the celebrities of Hollywood, to “solidarity with the Jews” and to take a position against campaigns and demonstrations scattered worldwide.
During his speech during a conference organized by the “Anti-Deformation Association” (ADL) on Tuesday March 4, Shaimer underlined the need for celebrities to show their support for the Jews “no one asks you to resolve the conflict in the Middle East”, stressing the importance of being held against what he described as “hatred”, in particular in universities, schools and societies.
He added: “Just express your position alongside your Jewish friends, colleagues and neighbors, and confirm your rejection of any demonstration of hatred or attacks.”
Shaimer’s comments come in response to a student movement in American universities, because around 200 universities – including prestigious universities such as Harvard, Yale, Brenston and Colombia – have seen demonstrations by students and teachers to support the American government in Israel in his war against Gaza.
President Donald Trump described these demonstrations as “illegal”, and the participants promised serious consequences, as he announced his intention to reduce federal funding for any educational establishment that allows such demonstrations, noting that “instigators will be imprisoned or expelled”.
Trump also signed a decree aimed at “fighting anti -semitism on the campus”, allowing the deportation of foreign students involved in pro -Palestine demonstrations.
For their part, the organizers of the student demonstrations underlined the need to separate the criticism and antimitism of Israel, noting that the criticism of the policies of a country does not necessarily mean fanaticism against a specific religious or ethnic group.
It should be noted that Shaimer was one of the signatories with a group of Hollywood celebrities on a message addressed to former American president Joe Biden in October 2023 to put him pressure to release Israeli prisoners.
Shaimer also criticized the statements of rapper Kanye West and described him as “anti -Mite”, calling for his ban because of his speech, which he described as spreading hatred.
