Activists have circulated on social networks, a video clip showing one of the arrests of the occupation soldiers for the Palestinian citizens and abusing them from its barriers distributed in the hundreds of West Bank.
The clip was filmed at the point of control of Beit Furik, notorious and renowned, east of the city of Nablus, in the north of the West Bank yesterday, in which the occupation army was arrested for more than 20 Palestinians raising their hands behind their head and behind them, the soldiers who were based on them.
Beit Forek’s control point is separated by the villages of Beit Furik and Beit Dajan from the city of Nablus, and the suffering is closer the evening hours when residents of the two villages come back from their work in the city of Nablus, where they have to wait long hours at the barrier.
What happened to Beit Furik’s control point is almost daily at the occupation control points that cut the West Bank, and transform its cities, villages and countryside into dignitaries and cantons, and social media has become of the utmost importance to identify the state of roads and barriers, either to avoid long hours of waiting, to avoid abuses and arrests.

Bad alternatives
By moving to the south of the West Bank, tens of thousands of Palestinians cause difficulty traveling between the provinces of Bethlehem and Hebron and the rest of the cities in the middle and northern West Bank, due to the long hours of waiting points for alternative and east control points.
In rare cases, the barrier witnesses a fluid movement of vehicles, and carriers often suffer from difficulties that public car drivers and buses feel more, because they drain their time and money.
Sami Hussein, the owner of a public transport vehicle working between the cities of Bethlehem and Ramallah, says that the continent’s barrier causes large losses, and “without the barrier, I can move 4 times a day between Ramallah and Bethlehem and I cannot barely cover the expenses of the car and the obligations of my family, but with the barrier, I cannot move more and more.”
He adds: “We are in long queues for hours on both sides of the barrier without reason, and this costs us fuel and time, and what we receive passengers barely covered the expenses of the car, but the debts accumulate on us.”
He continued: “Passengers are also subject to arrest and inspection, and prisoners are mistreated inside the army room on the side of the barrier.”
On the alternatives available, he explained that rue Wadi Al -nar, which is held at the end of the Land of Jerusalem, is the only one that connects the south to the center and to the north, noting that the presence of a terrible and dusty street which is not qualified through the Valleys to overcome the barrier “but it is dangerous and dangerous and which is not suitable for the same four weekends.”.
The “Valley of the Fire” road is the only one that connects northern West Bank to the south and the Cup by the continent’s barrier, when the soldiers close the barrier, people are forced to include this damaged earthy road to turn the barrier, which sometimes closes the army to paralyze everything.

More obstacles
According to a survey by the United Nations Bureau for the Coordination of United Nations Humanitarian Affairs, 36 new obstacles were held to move in the first three months of this year, most of which after the announcement of the ceasefire in Gaza in the middle of January 2025.
According to the United Nations Office, obstacles “increase the capacity of Palestinians to reach basic services and their workplaces”, noting that “total open or closed road doors in all parts of the West Bank is 288 doors, a third of the obstacles to navigation, 60% of which are closed frequently”.
According to data from the authority of resistance to Palestinian walls and colonies, the number of barriers and obstacles in the West Bank is 898, which are either doors, military barriers or material obstacles such as dust, concrete wires or walls.
The propagation of Israeli barriers shades its shadow on various sectors on the economic, educational and healthy level, according to international and local relationships.
Doctors without borders indicate on its website that the obstacles imposed on movement negatively affect the provision of health care and access to them, in particular in remote areas and gatherings, noting that the number of barriers and the current control system have increased significantly thanks to the additional restrictions imposed after October 20, 2023.

Economic damage
According to a study by the Palestinian Economic Policy Research Institute (Mas), the results of its results at the end of March, the circulation of transport in the West Bank decreased by 51.7% after the start of the aggression in Gaza in October 2023 following the presence of barriers.
The study estimated the number of hours of work lost per day of around 191,146 hours, which costs the Palestinian economy around 2.8 million shekels (764.6 thousand dollars) per day.
The results of the study confirm that the movement’s restrictions considerably affect the Palestinian economy “because it contributes to high unemployment and low wages due to the difficulty of workers to reach their workplaces, and obstacles also disrupt the movement of goods, which increases transport costs and cause damages to certain products because of the long waiting.”
