The Wall Street Journal cited sources that European allies seek to send a force ranging from 10 to 30,000 soldiers in Ukraine to impose any peace agreement with Russia.
The American newspaper said that what was called “the alliance of people wishing” to support Ukraine, wants to ensure Washington’s commitment to the intervention if Moscow violates the terms of the agreement.
This commitment is likely to include logistia and intelligence support in addition to air defense to monitor Russian movements, according to the newspaper.
According to the newspaper, military officials of the Western countries of the United Kingdom met today, Thursday, to discuss the role of the “coalition” led by Great Britain and France, to dissuade Russia for having launched a future attack on Ukraine, without American participation.
Power forces
The newspaper added that there are ongoing discussions on the extent of the powers which will be granted to these forces, in particular if they will be allowed to use the force against the Russian forces in the event of violations.
He also indicated that the change in American policy to Moscow left European allies in a complex position, while they seek to ensure permanent peace in Ukraine despite their lack of American military capacities.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that Great Britain, France, Sweden, Denmark and Australia are only the countries that have so far announced that they are considering sending forces to Ukraine, while the Eastern European countries refuse to spread their forces for fear of provoking Russia and weakening its defenses, but this can provide support for Logistia.
According to the newspaper, the deployment of great strength in Ukraine can empty NATO resources, and this can turn into a long -term commitment that will continue for decades, which makes it very expensive.
At the same time, the Bloomberg website said today, Thursday, that leaders of European countries, especially in Germany, Italy and Poland, will meet in Paris next week to discuss their position on Ukraine and their requests related to the peace process.
In turn, British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer said that talks focused on “military planning and military operations” to support Ukraine.
Last week, US President Donald Trump discussed during a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Foliomir Zellinski, a ceasefire with Russia, and the American president said: “We are walking on the right track”.
Trump also discussed with Putin details of the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in a connection that took about two and a half hours.
After the call, Trump announced that he agreed with Putin to an immediate end to target energy and infrastructure facilities in Ukraine and Russia.
On the same day, the Russian presidency “Kremlin” announced that Putin and Trump agreed to continue efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
The Kremlin explained that Putin welcomed Trump’s proposal that kyiv and Moscow do not target energy infrastructure installations for 30 days.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has launched a military attack on its neighbor, Ukraine, and demands that kyiv be abandoned to join Western military prohibitions, which kyiv considers to be an “interference” in his affairs.
