On Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi received his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune in the capital, Cairo, as part of an Arab tour undertaken by the latter, which also includes the Sultanate of Oman.
The Algerian presidency indicated that “the two visits are part of the strengthening of ties of fraternity and cooperation”, without providing details on the duration of each visit or its agenda.
For its part, the Egyptian presidency reported that “Sissi received Tebboune at Cairo international airport,” without providing further details.
Tebboune’s visit to Egypt is the second after another in January 2022. It is also the first foreign visit of the Algerian president since his re-election last September for a second 5-year term.
Tebboune’s arrival in Muscat will be the first visit of this type by an Algerian president to the Sultanate of Oman.
