The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the decision of the organization of Islamic cooperation to restore members of Syria after its suspension for 13 years, due to the crimes of the President ousted Bashar al -Assad.
The ministry described – in a statement published early Saturday morning – the decision as an important step towards the return of Syria to the regional and international community as a free and fair country, again highlighting its firm commitment to the principles of the organization of Islamic cooperation, justice and dignity.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also expressed its desire to work with its brothers in the Islamic world “to strengthen our region on the basis of our common values, and seeks to build a future in which our people find their position among nations, a part in a stronger and more unitary Islamic world”.
Syria regained its membership in the organization of Islamic cooperation after its comment since August 2012 due to the epidemic of the Revolution at the time, during a meeting of the organization made up of 57 members in Jeddah on Friday.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan presented the initiative to the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Cooperation Organization to restore Syria for its members, and was accepted.
Syrian Minister for Foreign Affairs Asaad Hassan Al -Shaibani called for the meeting to take control of the Syrian seat after the vote.
Last month, Syrian President Ahmed Al -Sharaa received an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, to participate in the Arab Emergency Summit in Cairo, which is a large stage in the reconstruction of relations with the Arab world after the fall of the Bashar al -Assad regime.
In December, the Syrian armed opposition overthrew Assad, and since then, the new Syrian government has sought to rebuild relations with the Arab countries and the Western and other powers.
