PA security officer killed in violent clashes with Jenin resistance fighters

The Palestinian Authority reported Monday that a sergeant from its security services had been killed during violent clashes with resistance fighters in the Jenin camp.

The Authority’s security services spokesperson, Adnan Al-Damiri, announced the assassination of Senior Sergeant Mahran Qadous during the security operation in Jenin.

He added: “Killing another soldier will only increase our resolve to confront anyone who attempts to threaten the security of the nation. There will be no tolerance for this deviant and outlaw group. »

Sources told Al Jazeera that violent clashes broke out today near the Jenin camp and the government hospital between the Authority’s security services and Palestinian resistance fighters.

The sources said authorities used RPG shells during violent clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters in the Jenin camp in the northern occupied West Bank.

For the third consecutive week, security services affiliated with the Ramallah Authority are continuing a campaign in the Jenin camp targeting those they describe as outlaws.

The authority claims that the campaign “aims to impose security and end security chaos”, while Palestinian factions confirm that this campaign targets resistance fighters against the Israeli occupation.

The city and refugee camp of Jenin are considered a stronghold of Palestinian resistance factions who strongly condemn the continued security coordination between the Ramallah Authority and the Israeli occupation.

Human rights organizations said “things could get out of control” if losses continued between the two sides.
