Amnesty International warned Thursday that the reduction of American aid, accompanied by strikes on the Houthi group, will have serious consequences for the Yemeni people, who depend more than half of the aid to survive.
The human rights organization said that the United States was “the largest humanitarian donor in Yemen for years”, noting that “these cups threaten to deepen one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world”.
The organization cited the emergency services saying that the reduction in financing “led to the suspension of the assistance and protection services in life.”
This includes the treatment of malnutrition for pregnant and lactating children, offering safe shelters to survivors of sexual violence and children’s health services.
According to the organization, dozens of places safe for women and women have been closed, warning that several facilities offer genesic health services or protection to women are also in danger.
Amnesty said that the United States has provided half of the coordinated humanitarian response plan for Yemen because it granted $ 768 million in the year 2024.

“Surprising and irresponsible discounts in American aid will have catastrophic consequences for the most vulnerable and most marginalized groups in Yemen, including women, girls, children and people displaced internally,” Diala Haider’s researcher said Deviable Yemen Haydar.
“Millions of people will go to Yemen without support,” she added.
Haider stressed that “the Yemeni people who suffer from hunger, travel and exhaustion following violence, lives in one of the most dangerous humanitarian crises in the world”.
She added that “military climbing in Yemen, in addition to reducing American aid, will exacerbate the humanitarian disaster in the face of a people who still suffer from the long conflict”.
“We have been forced to make fateful decisions based on thin or non -existing information,” said one of the humanitarian workers.
In January, US President Donald Trump imposed free of foreign aid free of charge while undergoing a review. Washington announced after 83% of the American Agency for International Development Programs was canceled.
The Houthi group controlled areas provide almost daily strikes attributed to the United States, because Washington began an air campaign against them on March 15 to force them to stop targeting the ships they accused of being linked to Israel. Washington admitted the implementation of a section of these air strikes.
