Macron organizes a European emergency summit in Ukraine Nouvelles

French President Emmanuel Macron will welcome European leaders today, on Monday, at an emergency summit in the war in Ukraine, after US officials said that Europe would have no role in the talks to put end to the conflict.

The French presidency said on Sunday that Macron called for “talks for the consultation” and that it would address the major change in the American approach to Ukraine and the risks that would result for the security of the European continent.

German advisor Olaf Schultz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, NATO secretary general, NATO, Mark Roat, Italian Prime Minister Georgeta Meloni, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Line and the president of the Council European Antonio Costa.

US President Donald Trump surprised his European allies last week when he announced that he had made a telephone call to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, without consulting them and that he would begin to move forward in a peace process between Moscow and kyiv.

Another shock

Trump’s envoy to Ukraine Keith Keel caused another shock to Europeans when he said on Saturday that Europe would not participate in Ukrainian peace talks, after Washington of European Capitals has shown what it could contribute to KIEV safety guarantees.

The United States has asked its European NATO allies, which they needed Washington to contribute to the security agreements for Ukraine, according to a document seen by Reuters on Sunday.

Dozens of similar meetings have revealed that the European Union – which includes 27 countries – is confused and divided and faces difficulties in order to reach a coherent plan to end the Ukrainian war near its borders and how to face to Russia 3 years after his invasion of her neighbor.

Officials of the European Union have said that some countries are not satisfied with the meeting, because it is only intended for managers and not for a complete summit for the Union.

The French presidency sought to calm these concerns and declared that the meeting of tomorrow could lead to other formulas “in order to bring together all the partners interested in European peace and security”.
