The Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – said it bombarded Tel Aviv on Monday morning with a salvo of M90 rockets as part of the ongoing battle of attrition and in response to the massacres and displacement of Palestinians.
Al-Qassam called this missile – which it manufactured locally in 2022 – “Al-Maqadma – M-90”, and it officially entered service for the first time in 2023 during the Battle of Al-Aqsa.
The name of this missile is named after Commander Ibrahim al-Maqadma, one of the founders of the Falange. It is 6 meters long and relatively heavy, as its transportation and launch requires the efforts of at least 8 people.
This weight is linked to the size of the warhead it carries, which weighs 50 kilograms, giving it a formidable explosive capacity capable of causing widespread destruction.
The missile has a maximum effective range of 90 kilometers, making it capable of reaching locations even further than Tel Aviv.
This is the first time that Al-Qassam has bombed Tel Aviv since it bombarded the city and its suburbs with two M90 missiles on August 13.
Israeli media said the army had yet to thwart a missile attack it was expecting from Gaza, and “it appears that it was demonstrating its operations in the morning and did not have no specific information.
Israeli media believed that the army’s failure to thwart the attack meant that Hamas’ leadership and control capabilities were not weakened.
