Social platforms have been highly engaged with the military parade held by the Jenin Brigade of the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, just two days after the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Jenin camp.
The offer came after a 10-day Israeli military operation that resulted in the deaths of 21 Palestinians and caused significant destruction to infrastructure and citizens’ property.
Dozens of Jenin Brigade fighters took part in the military parade that passed through the streets and neighborhoods of the camp. After the parade ended, the resistance fighters took part in a funeral ceremony held for the camp martyrs during the Israeli military operation, in the courtyard of the Jenin Club, in the presence of the camp residents and the families of the martyrs.
During the parade, a fighter from the Jenin Battalion said: “The Jenin Battalion is doing well, and the claims of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his military commanders to eliminate the battalion are false and untrue and an attempt to mislead the Israeli public.” This statement reflects the Palestinian resistance’s challenge to the Israeli narrative about the results of the military operation.
The September 9, 2024 episode of the “Shabakat” show reviewed the most notable comments by activists in which they expressed their support and admiration for the steadfastness of the resistance in the face of Israeli military operations.
Twitter user Saleh Abdullah praised the resistance, invoking poetry and literature to describe the scene. He tweeted: “This military parade and the sudden appearance of the men of the Jenin Brigade remind me of what the poet said: ‘Do you think that you have erased my identity… and erased my history and my beliefs… in vain do you try to prevent the annihilation of a rebel… I am like the same resurrection “The day is coming.”
Anger against Israel
The account owner, Nour, agreed with Abdullah on his admiration for the resistance and confirmed his opinion by saying: “After every military operation, the heroes of Jenin participate in a military parade to honor the martyrs with dignity and psychologically defeat the enemy. Each of the resistance fighters has lost a friend, a relative, a home or more, but he comes out brandishing his weapon to continue.” He trained the martyrs who preceded him.
Abu Al-Sukkar added a comment praising the steadfastness of the resistance, in which he used poetry to emphasize the continuity of the resistance in Jenin. He said: “This camp, no matter what happens, will continue to produce fighters. It will be driven out, so it is stubborn towards those it can tolerate.
Activist Khaled supported the opinion of his predecessors and stressed the continuity of the resistance despite the losses. He tweeted: “Despite the machinations and martyrdom of the fighters and leaders, Jenin is still on the path. Jenin is still shocking and will remain so.”
As for Twitter user Yassin Ezz El-Din, he focused in his commentary on what he considers a failure of the Israeli military operation, saying: “This broadcast shows the miserable failure of the operation (summer camps) of the occupation army that took place, and you are in big trouble.
On the other hand, the appearance of the Jenin Brigade at its military parade sparked anger in Israel. The newspaper “Israel Today” reported in its report: “A large number of activists appeared at the military parade, surpassing previous demonstrations, and this is proof that the terrorist brigades were able to replenish their ranks at a time when they were lacking.”
As for the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, it quoted Israeli security officials commenting on the military parade as saying: “The military operation is not yet over in Jenin and we will return there to eliminate terrorism there.”
