Social media platforms have responded to a technical malfunction that hit an Air Algérie flight and caused panic and terror among passengers, forcing it to return to Houari Boumediene International Airport in the capital, Algiers.
According to press reports, the flight was heading from Algiers International Airport to Istanbul, Turkey, on an Airbus A330 plane, with a capacity of more than 200 passengers, with photos showing it was full of passengers.
But an hour after taking off from Algiers International Airport, an emergency occurred with the plane during its flight, forcing it to return to the take-off airport, according to what navigation data shows, and it was able to land safely after an hour of terror, amid great joy that seemed evident to the passengers.
For its part, Air Algérie published a press release in which it explained that the captain decided to return to Houari Boumediene International Airport “due to a technical malfunction that occurred on board the aircraft, as a precautionary measure aimed at preserving the safety and security of passengers and crew.”
The company said it was “working to determine the exact causes of the malfunction and to carry out the technical checks necessary to return the aircraft to service as soon as possible.”
Divergent opinions
For its part, the program “Shabakat”, in its episode of 09/25/2024, followed some comments from Algerians on the plane incident, what happened to it and how the captain handled the emergency malfunction.
In this context, Salah El-Din stressed the need to maintain and modernize the Algerian Airlines fleet, saying: “The technical and aircraft control service at the airport must work strictly and very seriously in technical maintenance and monitoring to identify in advance, which may be the cause of technical malfunctions at the aircraft level.
However, Hamza Taleb appeared angry with the operating mechanism of Algerian Airlines and its fleet of aircraft, as he said: “The management of the company is disastrous instead of buying a large number of aircraft or renting (leasing) new aircraft from respectable companies, he will go and get you a plane from Congo and you will board, citizen.
In the same context, Dora said: “They don’t care about the safety of passengers, only about money. They also have to renew the entire fleet.”
On the other hand, Sona downplayed what happened and said: “Currently, all airlines in the world are facing problems of air turbulence due to global warming, but Algerian pilots are known worldwide for their efficiency.”
