A report from the Wall Street Journal said that Apple had withdrawn from negotiations to participate in the financing of “OpenAI”, which is expected to raise around $6.5 billion.
The newspaper, citing a person familiar with the matter, indicates that the technology giant has finally withdrawn from negotiations for the round which is due to close next week.
The report said that other companies, such as Microsoft and Nvidia, are also participating in the negotiations, adding that Microsoft is expected to invest around $1 billion after already pumping $13 billion into the company.
Last month, the Wall Street Journal first reported that Apple was in negotiations as part of a new fundraising effort for OpenAI that could value GBT Chat at more than $100 billion.
This high value is the result of the arms race in the field of artificial intelligence triggered by OpenAI with the launch of the “GPT Chat” model in late 2022, which has prompted companies from various sectors to invest billions of dollars in the technology to stay ahead and gain market share.
