Antalya Forum discusses weapons and the fight against terrorism in the news of the African coast

On Sunday, Antalya Diplomatic Forum discussed the problems and challenges that the Sahel region in West Africa and its governments relations with Ikewas and the African Union, as well as the relations between Turkey and the Confederation of the Coalition of the Sahel countries, and the means of developing them to include multiple areas of development.

Under the title “The Sahel region and the future of regional integration”, a session on the sidelines of the forum was devoted to the submission of proposals and perceptions which could provide solutions to the security and policies problems of the coalition of the Sahel coalition.

The foreign ministers of Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, and a certain number of African and international diplomats participating in the session participated in the conference of different countries.

The session of diplomatic leaders in the African Region of the Sahel made it possible to speak before their counterparts and to explain their point of view on many files belonging to their country.

Arrival

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mali Abdullah Diop said that the coalition of the Sahel countries, which brings together Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso is open and ready to cooperate with all countries and work with them on regional integration.

Dioboub criticized the United Nations and demanded that she stop counting the dead in the Sahel region because she did nothing about the fight against terrorism, as he said.

The head of diplomacy in Mali criticized what he called attempts at certain Western powers to impose sanctions prohibiting the arrival of their country on military equipment.

He said, “For this reason, we went to Türkiye, China and Russia, and we allowed ourselves to get what we need, and their weapons were not free, but rather it was bought.”

Diop added that the sanctions imposed by the African Union on countries in the Sahel countries are not constructive and are not considered a final solution.

Partnership with Türkiye

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Niger Bakari Sangari said that the withdrawal of Ikewas was due to his departure of the objectives which were based on them and their lack of focus on the interests of the Member States.

Sangari stressed that Türkiye is an important partner to fight terrorism in the Sahel region in West Africa and has become a great presence among the coalition countries.

During the same session, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso Karamuko Traore spoke of the challenges that his country faced, because he declared that he was under a terrorist occupation in 2022 of 50%, but with the beginning of the beginning of 2025, he was able to release 71% of his land.

Traore said that his country’s cooperation with Türkiye is not limited to the military domain, but also includes all areas of development.

The fourth edition of the Antalya diplomatic forum began last Friday and ended yesterday in Antalya, Turkey.

The forum is an international platform that is held every year under the auspices of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and aims to improve dialogue and resolve thorny files between countries.
