In an interview with Al -jazeera Net, Dr. Abdulaziz Mohamed Abdel Aziz, professor of exploration and evaluation of courses at the Faculty of Engineering, at the University of Cairo, said that he had not participated in this study, that the data provided by these air inquiries do not change at narrow periods, therefore the analysis of what was monitored in 1974 current.

Dr. Abdel Aziz explained that the research team added a value to the data collected by the French company, while he was studying how the influence in rocks and the soil is linked to the geological composition of the region.

How did the Iraqis use 1974 data?

And “the analysis of surface orientation” is a mathematical method that helps scientists understand how to distribute something such as radiation, in certain areas on the surface of the earth.

By using this method, the data are collected from several different points, then scientists try to discover models in these data, such as the presence of an increase or decrease in radiation in certain areas, and this method helps them to determine the general departments of radiation, which means that they can predict its levels in places that they have not yet measured.

Radiological anomalies sites

One of the most eminent researchers of their studies was to identify 6 sites containing radioactive anomalies, that is to say that it has an abnormal radiation, and this was linked to geological and tectonic causes, including the presence of rare radioactive cracks and minerals such as uranium which is transmitted by underground waters.

Abdel Aziz says that these results offer opportunities to determine the areas rich in minerals or rare areas which must be more monitored due to high levels of radiation.

As for the last method, it is the “gummeter” device, which is a crystallization of the “olite sodium” substance which is exported by light flashes when the gamma rays fall on it, and by the calculation of the number of these lightnings, the levels of radiation can be estimated.

Future applications

Thus, the results of this study can have a value applied in the future, and Abdel Aziz says that “an in -depth understanding of natural radiation in the southern region of Iraq can contribute to broader environmental and geological studies, as it is useful in the fields of the search for radioactive minerals, in addition to studies on nuclear energy and the location of appropriate geographic places.

In addition, Dr. Abdel Aziz explains that “these results can be useful for analyzing environmental changes by monitoring natural radiation levels and their effects on public health, plants and animals in these areas”.
