The Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, ASAAD Al -Haibani, discussed with the member of the US Congress Korea Li Mills in Damascus the developments of security and the economic situation in Syria, and the prospects for the creation of a strategic partnership between the two countries.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the two parties faced the joint threats facing the two countries and the region, and the need for concerted efforts to face them.
They also discussed the impact of American unilateral sanctions imposed on Syria and the need to lift them as a basic stage towards confidence.
Al -Shaibani underlined the opening of Damascus to responsible and serious dialogue with all international parties, including the United States on the basis of common interests and mutual respect.
A member of the US Congress for the Republican Party, Corrie Mills, met Syrian President Ahmed Al -Sharaa at the Palais Popular Capital, Damascus.
Cori Mills told Al -jazeera that the meetings he holds with political leadership in the Syrian capital, Damascus, aims to understand the new reality that was formed in Syria after the fall of the ousted regime.
Mills told Al -jazeera that the question of raising sanctions against Syria was quietly, stressing the need for what he described as the seizure of Washington of the historic moment which forms in the region.
